The concert was so engaging and interactive. My 5 year old sat with his face resting on the seat in front of him for the whole show.

South Charlotte Macaroni Kid

On Saturday Oct 30, my family was invited to be guests at the Charlotte Lollipops Thrills and Chills concert. Lollipops is a great way to introduce children to the symphony.

I know mama, your kids can’t sit still that long and you are sure one of those wild monkey’s who masquerades as a child will turn the place upside down. Valid fear, I have 3 of those at my house and I entered the doors with trepidation and a stern warning. Turns out none of those feelings were necessary. The concert was so engaging and interactive. My 5 year old sat with his face resting on the seat in front of him for the whole show, well except for the 10 minutes he and his brother spent on stage with 3 other children helping the special guest Alasdair Malloy, during one of the numbers. The music was great, the special guest shared stories that brought the music to life. My own children left the show begging for music lessons! Shows start at 11. If you arrive at 10 your children can take part in the Musical Petting Zoo. This very special pre-concert show is filled with activities, crafts and the opportunity to see, handle and try out some of the instruments they will see and hear in the concert. They had out drums, violins, brass instruments and much more. If you have not taken your children to see a Lollipops concert this needs to go to the top of your to do list. The next show is Green Eggs and Ham on Saturday, March 26, 2011. Green Eggs and Ham will feature Michael Boudewyns as the narrator, Kimberly Schroeder as the soprano and conductor Jacomo Bairos. When “Sam I AM” shows up at the symphony, fun is not going to be far behind! Tickets for Lollipops start at $12.50 and can be purchased at this link. With the holidays coming tickets to a Lollipops show would make a great gift!
